The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will kick off on 30 September, with Pakistan Women’s team set to play all their group-stage matches at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, under the previously agreed hybrid hosting model.
The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will run until 2 November, with Pakistan’s campaign beginning on 2 October against Bangladesh. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), if Pakistan qualifies for the knockout stage, both the semi-final (29 October) and final (2 November) will also be held in Colombo. Otherwise, the matches will be held in Guwahati and Bengaluru, respectively.
Pakistan’s group-stage schedule in Colombo
The Fatima Sana-led Pakistan team, who dominated the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Lahore by winning all five matches, will face a tough group-stage lineup. Here are their confirmed fixtures:
- 2 October: vs Bangladesh
- 5 October: vs India
- 8 October: vs Australia
- 15 October: vs England
- 18 October: vs New Zealand
- 21 October: vs South Africa
- 24 October: vs Sri Lanka
All matches are scheduled to start at 3:00 pm local time.
Hybrid hosting agreement in place
The unique arrangement stems from the ICC’s hybrid hosting model announced in December 2024, allowing Pakistan to play its matches in a neutral location. This move was aimed at ensuring player safety and maximizing participation amid broader political challenges.
Warm-up matches begin 24 September
All eight participating teams will play two warm-up matches starting 24 September, providing vital preparation before the group stage action begins.
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 promises high stakes and elite competition, as teams aim for a spot in the final on 2 November, set to be held in either Colombo or Bengaluru based on Pakistan’s progression.
