Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially relocated its state-of-the-art Brain Centre to the High Performance Centre (HPC) at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) in Colombo, aiming to boost the efficiency and integration of analytics and training operations.

Central hub for cricket analytics and coaching

The newly repositioned Brain Centre will serve as a centralized hub for advanced cricket analytics, video analysis, player education, and coaching development. The upgraded location enables better coordination between technical staff, players, and performance analysts.

By moving the facility from SLC headquarters to the heart of its high-performance ecosystem, SLC has created a more cohesive environment where players and coaches can quickly access the Brain Centre within their training grounds.

Key features of the Brain Centre

  • Video analytical tools for in-depth match and player reviews
  • Interactive whiteboards for team presentations and tactical sessions
  • Secure data storage for historical performance trends and analysis
  • Capacity to host large groups for workshops and masterclasses
  • Instant access to match footage for individual and group learning

Opening ceremony attended by SLC leadership

The Brain Centre was formally inaugurated by Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, during a ceremony held at the RPICS premises. Key attendees included:

  • Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa – Vice President, SLC
  • Sujeeva Godaliyadda – Treasurer, SLC
  • Ashley De Silva – CEO, SLC

This strategic move not only improves logistical access for national teams, but also enhances the developmental pipeline for youth programs and emerging players through more immersive learning experiences.

Supporting future cricket education

The relocation also enhances the SLC Coach Education Unit, which will now use the facility to host “online masterclasses” and interactive coaching workshops. These sessions are designed to elevate coaching standards across all levels of Sri Lankan cricket.

Young cricketers attending performance camps or training at the HPC will now have access to cutting-edge analytical resources, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the game from an early stage.

The upgraded Brain Centre reflects SLC’s ongoing commitment to embracing technology-driven training methodologies and nurturing talent through data-led decision making.
