Titans Cricket are proud to announce the opening of the Centre for Mediation in Sport, which will be based at SuperSport Park Stadium in Centurion. The stadium will play its part in a winning partnership between the legal and sporting industries.

Perhaps lost on the fierce will to win at all costs, the fine art of mediation has become a feature of the South African justice system to the extent that Titans Cricket have joined in the mix with access to clients, support, data management and marketing services.

The Centre for Mediation in Sport will provide a bouquet of services for those individuals who are enlisted under its panel as a Mediator. The criteria for selection is rigorous insofar as our objective to deliver on service excellence and statutory experience in both the sporting and legal industries. The Centre is yet another platform for SuperSport Park Stadium to try and harness better relationships in the sporting fraternity. We want SuperSport Park to establish itself as a hub for impactful projects.

In attendance at the launch was Advocate Alan Nelson (SC), a key inspiration for the Centre for Mediation in Sport.

“This is an integral service, and we have all seen how effective mediation can be,” Titans Cricket CEO Dr. Jacques Faul said. “If you notice the impact of facilitative mediation, it can change your perception on how to deal with conflict and disputes. This applies – not only to sport but – to a variety of case matters and associated industries,” said Faul.

“If there exists a dispute between, players, administrators or sponsors, the Centre will be a safe space for stakeholders to talk to one another with the aid of a trained and qualified mediator and they will be assisted in finding solutions themselves,. ”Commented Advocate Nelson.

The launch of the Centre for Mediation in Sport was attended by some of the brightest minds in the legal trade. The highlights of the event included a discussion panel comprising of Ms. Nomlayo Mabhena, Professor Steve Cornelius, Professor Olaotse John Kole, and Honorary Life Member of the Northerns Cricket Union, Mr. Brandon Foot.

“I am very excited about this initiative. What this means is that anybody in the sporting environment will have somewhere they can go if a conflict arises,” Nelson continued.
