Sydney Sixers WBBL captain Ellyse Perry received her third Belinda Clark Award at Australian cricket’s night of nights on Monday, with good mate Alyssa Healy awarded the Women’s One-Day and T20 International Player of the Year.
It was the second successive year the Sixers wicketkeeper-batter had received each honour at the Australian Cricket Awards. Perry had previously won the Belinda Clark Award, as Australian Female Player of the Year, in 2016 and 2018.
Healy was the Belinda Clark Award winner last year. The award is voted by peers, umpires and the media across all forms and every game of international cricket in 2019.
Perry finished on 161 votes with Healy finishing second in the count on 153.
In December, Perry was named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year and Healy T20 International Player of the Year.
During 2019, Perry again demonstrated her world class with bat and ball, including the best ODI figures by an Australian Women’s player of 7-22 in the Women’s Ashes in July.
Over that 12 months, she also scored her second Test century in the victorious Ashes series against England, her first two One-Day International centuries among 783 runs across all three formats. She claimed 28 wickets for Australia in all three formats; T20, One-Day and Tests.
Perry continued her exemplary form with the bat during WBBL|05 scoring 469 runs at the remarkable average of 93.8 before injuring her shoulder. She also became the first player, male or female, to score 2,500 Big Bash runs.
Healy’s record in One-Day and T20 International cricket over the past 12 months was equally impressive.
She posted the world record highest score in a Women’s T20 International against Sri Lanka, early October, at North Sydney Oval. Healy made a remarkable 148 not out from just 61 balls.
Across the 12 months, Healy scored 383 runs from 13 matches in the T20 International arena. She also made 669 One-Day runs at an average of 60.81 during the last year, including two centuries.
With the gloves, Healy claimed 18 catches and three stumpings across both formats.
The pair shared a world record domestic Women’s T20 partnership at the WACA Ground during WBBL|05.
Healy, who made 106 not out from 53 balls, and Perry with 87 not out on her birthday, shared an opening stand of 199 in the 45-run win over the Melbourne Stars in November.
Sixers super star International batsman Steve Smith finished second in the votes for the Allan Border Medal and Men’s Test Player of the Year behind David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne respectively.
Smith finished just one vote behind Warner in the Allan Border Medal count.
The awards for international cricket are based on votes from players, umpires and the media on a 3-2-1 basis from each match.
Prior to the award period, male players must have played 10 or less first-class matches and 25 or less combined List A and BBL matches and female players 25 or less matches.
