Thursday’s semi-final is the first for many in the Thunder squad
Young gun Hannah Darlington will be among several Thunder players to experience their first WBBL semi-final at North Sydney Oval on Thursday night against defending champions Brisbane Heat.
Tickets are now on sale for the WBBL|06 finals. Tickets are $10 and kids 16 and under go free.
Here are the thoughts of the 18-year-old heading into the big match:
What’s the feeling like leading into your first WBBL semi-final?
“It’s really exciting actually. The group’s been really level the last couple of days, but I think it will start to ramp up now with our preparation. Everyone’s excited all round.”
Has the team spoken much about this being the first semi-final for many players?
“We had a little chat before we got started yesterday, back into training, and spoke to people like Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight, who have obviously been in situations like this before in World Cups and the WBBL.
“They had a really nice insight just to enjoy it and that’s when you play your best cricket.”
Who is the one to lighten the mood leading into a big match?
“Definitely, Lauren Smith and Phoebe Litchfield. Lauren Smith is on tune, she’s been really good the last couple of days trying to pump everyone up. You can’t go past those two.”
What was it like to be selected in the WBBL|06 Team of the Tournament?
“It was nice to have Thunder well represented. It just shows how much our players are contributing across the season. It was a shock to get picked but it was nice recognition for the season that a lot of the girls have had.”
Did you know: Hannah has claimed 15 wickets this season taking her to 31 in just two seasons.
Your form is hitting peak at the right end of the tournament?
“I’m happy to say that is probably the case for most people in our squad that their performances are just getting better and I think that’s the perfect way to lead into the semi-final. We haven’t played our perfect game yet.”
