Perth Scorchers: Munro, Richardson headline BBL10 team of tournament

Perth Scorchers duo Colin Munro and Jhye Richardson have both been named in the official KFC BBL|10 Team of the Tournament, as voted by the coaches of all eight clubs.The pair have played a starring role in the Scorchers’ progression through to the BBL finals and were both selected by all eight coaches for the Team of the Tournament.

In his first season with Perth, Munro has fit seamlessly with the Scorchers squad and has been a brilliant acquisition on and off the field.

Despite missing a game through injury, the Kiwi is the fifth highest run scorer in BBL|10, with 411 runs at an average of 34.25.

The powerful batter took a liking to Optus Stadium earlier in the tournament, obliterating opposition bowling units with three half centuries on the trot as the Scorchers trounced visiting sides.

Munro has mixed patience with brute force and shapes as a key player in Perth’s finals aspirations.

Paceman Richardson has been dominant with the ball all tournament and appears destined to eclipse Daniel Sams’ record mark of 30 wickets in a BBL season.

The express quick has 27 wickets for the tournament, five more than his nearest rival, at an impressive economy of 7.09.

The Golden Arm elect has made a stunning return to playing following an off-season shoulder reconstruction and has been capped by his selection in Australia’s squad for the five-match T20 tour of New Zealand next month.

Joining Richardson on the plane to New Zealand after the BBL are five Scorchers teammates in Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Mitch Marsh, Ashton Turner and Andrew Tye.

Western Australia contracted players Josh Philippe, Marcus Stoinis and D’Arcy Short will also travel to New Zealand, while Cameron Green has been selected for the Australian Test squad that will tour South Africa next month.
