Queensland Cricket is tonight celebrating the success of Australian and Queensland Fire star Beth Mooney who took out two major awards at tonight’s Australian Cricket Awards ceremony.
Mooney claimed her first Belinda Clark Medal tonight, as well as the Australian T20 Player of the Year award in a year that included an historic ICC World Cup victory in Melbourne.
A key member of the Brisbane Heat’s dual WBBL championship unit, the talented wicket-keeper and batter explored new territory this year with the Perth Scorchers.
Mooney, 27, scored 504 runs at 45.81 in T20 Internationals in the past 12 months and was the player of the Tournament at the ICC T20 World Cup,
During the voting period, she scored more runs than any of her Australian teammates across three ODIs and 14 T20Is, compiling 555 runs at an average of 42.9, including six fifties.
She finished two votes ahead of national captain Meg Lanning.
The Women’s T20I Player of the Year covered a 12-month period that saw Australia claim their fifth T20 World Cup title in front of 86,174 people at the MCG on March 8 of last year.
Australia played 14 T20Is in total across the voting period, which took in a tri-series against England and India, and a three-game series against New Zealand, in addition to the ICC tournament.
Mooney, with her 504 runs at 45.81 with a strike rate of 122.92, led the charge for Australia.
QC CEO Terry Svenson said Mooney deserved congratulations for her success.
