The 13th edition of Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade II competitions, the first domestic event of the year, is all set to get underway tomorrow, February 10, 2022. The event features 29 provincial teams, which will compete in 56 one-day matches across 22 days at three different venues in Khost, Nangarhar, and Kandahar provinces.
The participating teams are divided into 6 groups with the first 5 groups consisting of 5 teams while the last group containing 4 teams. Teams groups A & B will take on each other in Kandahar province, while the group C and D teams will be drawn into the competitions in Khost province whereas the group E and F leg of the tournament will be played in Nangarhar province.
Kabul B will take on Helmand in the opening game of the event in Kandahar province whereas Paktia will face Khost B in Khost province while Nangarhar B will be up against Kunar on the first day of the event.
Three matches will be played every day, with the ball by ball updates of the games will be available live on a social cricket website named cricheroes.
Here are the group settings for the event;
Group A – Kabul B, Helmand, Herat, Uruzgan, and Ghazi provinces
Group B – Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Farah, Zabul, and Nimroz provinces
Group C – Khost B, Paktia, Bamyan, Takhar, and Parwan provinces
Group D – Kochian, Baghlan, Logar, Paktika, and Sar-e-Pul provinces
Group E – Nangarhar B, Kunar, Nooristan, Kapisa, and Balkh provincial teams
Group F – Kunduz, Laghman, Samangan, and Jowzjan provinces
All the participating teams will play once against each other in their respective groups with the table topper in each group advancing to Grade One competitions, which are considered as the leading provincial one-day event of the ACB which will be conducted soon after the completion of the Grade II event.
The Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Provincial Grade II event is the first of many events that are included in the domestic cricket plan for the year 2022, which will be followed by a 12-team grade one event in March.
