Club partnership with OzHarvest continues to support those in need across the Thunder Nation

Sydney Thunder’s four-year partnership with OzHarvest hit a new milestone this summer.

Thanks to the generosity of the Thunder Nation and Principal Partner, Homestar Finance, the club has provided over 200,00 nourishing meals to those in need across NSW.

This has also resulted 106,393 kilograms of food and 36,695,235 litres of water saved from going to waste, plus 702,194 kilograms of greenhouse emissions prevented through avoidng food waste.

OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, meaning its staff and volunteers collect excess food from commercial outlets and deliver it to 1,500 charities across Australia.

Millions of Australians face food insecurity, with many families and individuals relying on the support of OzHarvest to put meals on their plate every day.

Principal Partner, Homestar Finance, has contributed 76,500 meals to OzHarvest through its pledge to donate 100 meals for every four struck by a Thunder batter during the BBL since BBL|08.

“Homestar Finance is passionate about helping people in the community so the partnership with OzHarvest is a perfect fit for us, along with our sponsorship of Sydney Thunder,” said Mandy Sly, Executive – Retail Distribution.

“We could not be prouder of contributing 76,500 meals of the 212,786 meals that have been donated to those in need, and look forward to continuing the relationship and working towards the next milestone.

“Keep hitting those fours, Sydney Thunder!”

Richard Watson, NSW State Manager – OzHarvest, thanked Homestar Finance and the Thunder Nation for their generosity.

“Thank you to Sydney Thunder and Homestar Finance for helping us ‘Nourish Our Country’ over the last four seasons,” said Watson.

“This support has allowed OzHarvest to deliver an additional 200,0000 meals to vulnerable communities throughout Sydney.

“This shows Sydney Thunder’s dedication to their community beyond the boundary, at a time when demand for food relief is at an all-time high.”
