Twenty four of New Zealand’s most promising young female cricketers will compete in three T20s this weekend at NZC’s High Performance Centre in Lincoln.

The 24 players were selected from the Women’s U19 National Tournament and will be split into two teams – the Bates XII and Devine XII.

NZC High Performance Coach – Female Pathways, Sara McGlashan, will oversee the T20 matches.

“These internal matches form part of our female pathways programme as we look to develop the next generation of female cricketers,” McGlashan said.

“It’s great to have some of our best players from around New Zealand in Lincoln to showcase their skills, especially given the challenges and impact Covid-19 has had at the community level of cricket.”

“Women’s cricket continues to grow and the current ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has no doubt inspired cricketers across the country.”

All six of New Zealand Cricket’s Major Associations will be represented, with a handful of players already having domestic or New Zealand XI experience.
