TLA Merchandise Consumer Notification

As part of the Melbourne Stars’ engagement with fans, and to enable them to dress up and add to the colour and excitement of the match or event, limited edition fashion glasses were distributed to attendees of the various Melbourne Stars home BBL Matches and events, including:

– Melbourne Stars v Hobart Hurricanes (Ted Summerton Reserve, Moe) on 22 December 2019;
– Melbourne Stars Family Day (Casey Fields) on 15 December 2019;
– Melbourne Stars v Melbourne Renegades (MCG) on 4 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Sydney Thunder (MCG) on 8 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Sydney Sixers (MCG) on 12 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Perth Scorchers (MCG) on 18 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Brisbane Heat (MCG) on 25 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Sydney Sixers (MCG) on 31 January 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Sydney Thunder (MCG) on 6 February 2020;
– Melbourne Stars v Adelaide Strikers (MCG) on 15 January 2021;
– Melbourne Stars v Melbourne Renegades (MCG) on 17 January 2021;
– Melbourne Stars v Perth Scorchers (MCG) on 23 January 2021;

Unfortunately, the supplier of the fashion glasses, TLA Merchandise Pty Ltd (TLA), failed to label the fashion glasses, or where fashion glasses were labelled, further information was required to be provided to consumers under relevant Australian labelling requirements applicable to sunglasses and fashion spectacles. The purpose of this notification is to ensure the recipients of fashion glasses are informed of information which TLA has advised Cricket Victoria should have accompanied the fashion glasses.

TLA has requested that Cricket Victoria advise the attendees of these BBL Matches and events that the fashion glasses should have been accompanied with the following user information from the manufacturer, at the time of supply:

Fashion Spectacles – Filter Category 1 – AS/NZ 1067.1:2016

Limited protection against sunglare, some UV protection. Not suitable as sun protection glasses; not suitable for direct observation of the sun; not suitable for driving and road use; not suitable for use as protection against artificial light sources (e.g., solaria); not suitable for use as eye protection against mechanical impact hazards.

If you received a pair of fashion glasses, TLA recommends that you familiarise yourself with the above information as to the safe use of the fashion glasses and we ask you to help communicate this message to other fans and members you know who also received a pair of the fashion glasses.
