The MCC Foundation Hubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow will face off on Wednesday at East Kilbride CC, in the MCC’s National Hub Competition.

The MCC Hubs provide free-to-access training and match play to 3,000 state-educated young cricketers at 77 sites across the UK, including two here in Scotland.

The Hubs focus on talent: helping promising youngsters who have been engaged through mass participation activities or non-traditional formats to join cricket clubs, develop their hard-ball skills, and access the formal talent pathways.

The Hubs also have a transformational impact off the cricket pitch, helping participants to feel happier and more confident, and improving their focus and performance at school.

The National Hub Competition sees all Hubs invited to compete in a series of knockout matches in inspiring venues across the regions.

The four finalists, consisting of two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams, will earn themselves them an unforgettable opportunity to play in the Grand Final on the Main Ground at Lord’s.

Wednesday’s game at East Kilbride is the culmination of a 10-week training programme, with participants now getting the opportunity to showcase their skills in a live match situation, with the dream of a Lord’s Final in sight.

The fixture will be contested by the MCC Hubs’ Under 16s Boys sides and will get underway at 17:45.

Thanks must go to East Kilbride CC and East Renfrewshire for their support of this event.
