- Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad chosen as USA Cricket’s next CEO
- Venu Pisike voted in as fulltime Chairman of the Board
USA Cricket is pleased to announce two significant milestones with the selection of Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad (“Dr. Murad) as its next Chief Executive Officer and the election of Mr. Venu Pisike as fulltime Chairman of the Board.
USA Cricket formed a working group in April 2023 and were tasked in finding next CEO for USA Cricket. The working group has diligently sifted through a large number of qualified applicants. A shortlist of 6 candidates were interviewed, and the top 3 candidates were presented to the USA Cricket Board and Dr. Murad was chosen after long deliberations on all 3 candidates.
Dr. Murad served as the CEO of Afghanistan Cricket from 2012-2014 during its meteoric rise from the lower levels of Associate Cricket to achieving a spot at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. During his tenure at Afghanistan Cricket, the Afghanistan team were the recipients of prestigious Laureus Spirit of Sport award, as well as achieving the ICC’s Best Overall Cricket Development, and Best Junior Participation Initiative awards in 2014. Dr. Murad, who trained as a doctor at Kabul Medical University, has also spent many years working for the United Nations Fund for Population, most recently as the Head of the Adolescent and Youth Department, and will begin his role with USA Cricket once he receives his work visa.
Venu Pisike, who has been successful in retaining his Individual Director seat, earlier this week is elected as the new fulltime Chairman of the Board, by the USA Cricket Board members during the Board meeting held on Thursday (7/20) evening.
The appointment ends a near 12-month period of interim Chairs, with both these appointments, USA Cricket meets the specific ICC compliance.
