It was a bright and beautiful Wednesday morning today as Cricket NSW celebrated Play Cricket Week.
Australian star Ash Gardner joined a barefoot Woolworths Cricket Blast session on Manly Beach this morning as Cricket NSW celebrated Play Cricket Week. Gardner played Beach Blast with 40 Woolworths Cricket Blasters and gave the youngsters tips on how to play Cricket Blast.
The event marks the time of the year for youngsters from around the country to register to play cricket for the upcoming summer.
Ash Gardner said that this is how she started playing cricket.
“It is so important to encourage kids to play the sport and get out on the sun with their friends. It’s super important from a social aspect as well to play in a team game and what better way to spend the summer than playing cricket?”
“It’s awesome to see how many kids have registered this year,” she said.
During Play Cricket Week and throughout August, almost 150 Australian, State and Big Bash players will make appearances at community clubs, schools and special events across the country to promote the benefits of cricket and help drive registrations for this summer.
Cricket Australia has also launched a new campaign, ‘Imagine the Fun’ to drive awareness and consideration to join the Woolworths Cricket Blast program.
