Sydney Thunder have secured the services of promising all-rounder Olivia Porter for the upcoming Weber WBBL|09 season.

An exciting talent on the rise, the right-arm quick and middle-order bat made 10 appearances for Thunder last summer.

Joining the club as a local replacement player during WBBL|05, the then 18-year-old was called into the squad to replace Pakistan superstar, and current national captain, Nida Dar.

Despite not taking the field the season prior, Porter earned a full contract ahead of WBBL|06 but was forced to sit out the title-winning summer with a stress fracture.

Head of Sydney Thunder, Andrew Gilchrist said he’s looking forward to seeing what Thunder can produce under new head coach, Lisa Keightley.

“We’re really pleased to see Olivia back for the season ahead. She’s a promising talent and a player with great potential.

“Olivia came into our group as an 18-year-old and has been a part of the club for a number of years now. We’ve watched her develop and grow over that time and we’re looking forward to seeing more of what she can do this season.

“Thunder fans should be really excited about the list we’re building under Lisa Keightley. We have great faith in Lisa and what we’re currently building at Thunder.

“We’re excited to see what this group can do come October.”

Thunder will kick off their Weber WBBL|09 season with a bang facing crosstown rivals, the Sydney Sixers, in a must-watch clash at North Sydney Oval on Sunday, October 22.
