The Brisbane Heat has bolstered its all-round depth with Jack Wildermuth re-signing for another season ahead of this summer’s KFC Big Bash League.

The 30-year-old allrounder becomes the latest re-signing for Brisbane, with the club having one more open spot left on its 18-player roster.

Wildermuth, who has played 52 BBL career games for the Heat and Melbourne Renegades, missed much of last season due to injury.

He has enjoyed a solid off-season preparation during the winter and made a successful foray in the opening rounds of the KFC T20 Max competition, with 44 and 3-15 a timely reminder of his skills.

Heat coach Wade Seccombe said the KFC T20 Max competition had provided an ideal showcase for Wildermuth and other potential recruits.

“As was the case last season, there have been quite a number of eye-catching efforts by players, and some very competitive cricket from all the clubs’’ he said.

“We’re very pleased to secure Jack for BBL|13. He’s experienced and can give us match-winning options with bat and ball throughout the tournament.”

“We’ve had some discussions about how we will complete the squad for the final contract spot, as well as Local Replacement players, so we will keep tabs on our options from here,” Seccombe said.

The Final of the T20 Max competition will be held tomorrow night at Allan Border Field from 6pm, immediately following the free Heat Fan Day from 4pm where Wildermuth will be among the BBL and WBBL players joining the pre-season gathering of fans and members.

Wildermuth made his debut for the Heat in 2016-17 in BBL|06 before switching to the Melbourne Renegades for BBL|07 where he was a member of that club’s BBL|08 championship squad.

The Heat have now signed the following players for BBL|13:

Xavier Bartlett, Josh Brown, Max Bryant, Spencer Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan McSweeney, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Will Prestwidge, Matthew Renshaw, Mitch Swepson, Jack Wildermuth (one local spot to fill).

Internationals draft picks: Sam Billings (Eng), Colin Munro (NZ), Paul Walter (Eng).

Following a pre-sale period, all public tickets are now on sale for Heat matches at the Gabba, Allan Border Field and Great Barrier Reef in Mackay.

Early-bird pricing is in place until 14 September for WBBL and 24 October for KFC BBL games.

Entry level prices remain at just $8 for kids and $22 for adults in the BBL while WBBL pricing has $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

The Heat will open the KFC BBL season on December 7 against the Melbourne Stars at the Gabba.
