The South Australian Cricket Association congratulates SA Scorpions and Adelaide Strikers Head Coach Luke Williams on his appointment as Head Coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Women’s Premier League.

Williams remains Head Coach of the Scorpions and Strikers, teams that he has reached consecutive Grand Finals with in recent seasons, highlighted by a maiden WBBL Championship last summer.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the Southern Brave’s title winning effort in The Hundred, a team Williams was Assistant Coach of, and his role as Head Coach of the Women’s Australia A side that toured England this year.

“This is a fantastic opportunity and I am very excited for my first involvement in the WPL,” Williams said.

“My immediate focus remains this summer’s WNCL and WBBL campaigns as we look to build on the success we have achieved in South Australia across recent years. SACA has been supportive throughout this process and I am extremely thankful for that.

“Our playing group and Assistant Coaches Nicole Bolton and Darius Wyatt have been fantastic throughout the pre-season as we prepare for the summer of cricket, and I look forward to our WNCL campaign continuing following our opening wins against ACT.

“To get a chance to work with a franchise such as RCB is amazing and it will hopefully be another positive step in my coaching journey. I am so grateful for the opportunity and thank all involved in the decision-making process.”
