National coach Ryan Campbell van Oranje today announced the selection of the Dutch ‘A’ men’s team that will play the T20 series against Belgium. The matches will take place on Thursday 24 June in Voorburg at the VCC association and Friday 25 June in Schiedam at the Exelsior’20 association.
The Dutch squad that will play the 4 x T20 exhibition games against Belgium is as follows:
Tonny Staal (captain, HCC), Tobias Visee (vice-captain, HBS), Vikram Singh (VRA), Musa Nadeem (HCC), Boris Gorlee (HCC), Aryan Dutt (VCC), Niels Etman (Excelsior’20), Sebastiaan Braat (Hermes DVS), Ryan Klein (HBS), Arnav Jain (VOC), Clayton Floyd (HCC), Julien de Mey (HBS) , Tim de Kok (VOC), Kertan Nana (Kampong)
Ryan Campbell, National Coach of the Netherlands, “It is very important for us to get the ‘A’ team program up and running, especially with a view to the T20 World Cup in India later this year. We want to give these guys the best opportunities to be selected. We as KNCB are also convinced that it is very important to help promote cricket in mainland Europe. If we play against Belgium that will certainly help and our plans also include matches against countries such as Denmark and Germany.”
Corey Rutgers, Belgium National Coach, “Firstly, we would like to thank the KNCB and Ryan Campbell for inviting us and organizing this T20 series. We have had to do without cricket for too long due to the pandemic and are really looking forward to the chance to compete against to play a team of this level. We are going on a tour to Malta soon. This is the perfect preparation for our young team. It will be a challenge but I can’t wait to see how our team handles the pressure. Hopefully this is the start of more matches with our cricket neighbors in the future.”
