Top-order batter Marcus Harris has re-committed to the Melbourne Renegades for BBL|12.

Harris has signed a one-year deal, which will take him into a seventh season in red after joining the club for BBL|06.

The 30-year-old hasn’t been seen in the BBL for the past two years due to international commitments.

He has played 48 BBL games across his career – including the Renegades’ BBL|08 championship – and is looking forward to being back in red if the opportunity presents this summer.

“It’s great to be locked in with the Renegades again this season,” Harris said.

“While I haven’t been able to play BBL over the last couple of seasons, I’ve followed the team closely and I really want to be part of a successful season with this group. I’m looking forward to playing in front of our Renegades fans again and trying to win our second BBL championship.”

While he hasn’t featured recently in the Big Bash, his white-ball form has been strong.

Harris has scored two centuries in his past five Marsh One-Day Cup matches for Victoria – including an unbeaten 142 yesterday – and averaged more than 40 in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup competition.

“Marcus is a quality player and we’re pleased to have him recommit to our club for BBL|12,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said.

“He adds to the strength of our batting group, which boasts a core group of experienced players and some exciting young talent on the rise. We look forward to having him back in red this summer, around any international duties.”

The Renegades have one local list spot still to confirm ahead of its BBL campaign, which will begin on December 15 against the Brisbane Heat in Cairns.
