Bangladesh Cricket Board officials have expressed growing confidence that India’s rescheduled white-ball tour of Bangladesh will proceed as planned later this year, according to a report by Cricbuzz journalist Atif Azam. The optimism marks a notable shift after uncertainty surrounded the bilateral series following its earlier postponement.
The tour is currently scheduled to feature three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, with Bangladesh continuing preparations for India’s visit while awaiting the remaining formalities ahead of the series.
BCB expresses confidence over tour
Bangladesh Cricket Board Media Committee Chairman Asif Rabbani said the board remains optimistic that the series will be staged as planned.
“We are confident about hosting India as per schedule. We have floated the EOI for media rights for the next few home series’ including India’s tour, and hoping for a good response from prospective bidders. Everyone is well aware about the benefits of playing a white ball series against a top side like India and the signs are positive,” Bangladesh Cricket Board Media Committee Chairman Asif Rabbani told Cricbuzz on Wednesday.
Revised schedule remains in place
Under the itinerary announced by the BCB, the Indian team is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on 28 August. The three ODIs are scheduled for 1, 3 and 6 September, before the T20I leg of the tour is played on 9, 12 and 13 September.
The series had originally been scheduled for an earlier window before being postponed following diplomatic tensions between the two neighbouring countries. It was subsequently rescheduled for the August-September 2026 period.
Positive developments continue
Recent political developments in Bangladesh have raised hopes of improving relations between the two countries, with the new government indicating its intention to strengthen ties with India.
The resumption of tourist visa processing for Bangladeshi nationals by India after a two-year gap has also been viewed as a positive development, adding to the expectation that the six-match white-ball series will proceed according to the revised schedule.
