Bangladesh’s proposed white-ball series against India has taken another step towards becoming a reality after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) launched the sale of worldwide media rights for its upcoming home international programme, according to a report by Cricbuzz journalist Vijay Tagore. The move represents the clearest commercial indication yet that the board is preparing for India’s visit as part of its 2026 home season.
The proposed series, comprising three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, had previously been postponed before the cricket boards agreed to defer the tour. While the fixtures are yet to receive final confirmation, the BCB has now formally begun the process of marketing the broadcast and digital rights associated with the tour.
India series heads media rights package
Inviting bids from broadcasters and digital platforms, the BCB outlined the scope of the rights process in its Expression of Interest (EOI) tender.
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) invites Expression of Interest (EOI) along with financial offers from reputable TV Broadcasters, Digital Platforms and Marketing Agencies / Consortiums / Firms for acquiring the Worldwide Media Rights of the following Bilateral International Home Series,” the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in its Expression of Interest (EOI) tender document.
The tender confirms that India’s proposed visit forms part of a wider package of Bangladesh home internationals scheduled across the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
“The series covered under the EoI are:
India Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2026 (03 ODI and 03 T20i)
West Indies Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2026 (02 Test)
England Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2027 (02 Test)
Pakistan Team’s Tour of Bangladesh 2027 (05 ODI),” the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in its Expression of Interest (EOI) tender document.
Commercial preparations gather pace
The decision to place the rights on the market signals that the BCB has moved into the commercial planning phase for its upcoming bilateral programme, even though the India series itself has not yet been officially confirmed.
The Expression of Interest document becomes available from Thursday, 2 July, with broadcasters, digital platforms and other interested parties able to obtain the detailed bidding documents before preparing their financial proposals.
The BCB has set 22 July as the submission deadline for bids, with proposals required to be delivered to the board’s management office at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka during official business hours.
Focus turns to the next stage
India’s proposed tour remains one of the most commercially significant bilateral series in Bangladesh’s international calendar, with matches between the two teams consistently attracting strong television audiences and digital engagement across multiple markets.
The opening of the media rights process marks another important administrative milestone, with attention now turning to the outcome of the tender as preparations continue for Bangladesh’s 2026-27 home international programme.
