Following India’s dominant six-wicket victory over Pakistan in Dubai, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla voiced his optimism about the team’s journey in the Champions Trophy, expressing hope that India will advance to the final on March 9.
Virat Kohli played a starring role in India’s triumph, smashing an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, adorned with seven boundaries. His masterful chase guided India past Pakistan’s total of 241 with ease, reaffirming his status as the ‘chase master.’ This was Kohli’s sixth century in ICC ODI events and his first in the Champions Trophy. “Big players answer their critics with bat, not words, and Virat has done that. If India continues to perform like this, the team will return with the Champions Trophy,” remarked IPL chairman Arun Dhumal.
Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer also contributed significantly to the chase, while Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was lauded for its tactical brilliance. “India defeated Pakistan by six wickets. Our players, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill, played amazingly. The leadership of Rohit Sharma was amazing. Whenever India defeats Pakistan, it is another level of enthusiasm. I hope we will play the final here,” Rajeev Shukla told ANI.
The foundation for India’s victory was laid by the bowlers, who effectively restricted Pakistan to a modest total of 241. “Everybody said it was a crucial toss, but the way India’s bowlers performed was exceptional. They restricted Pakistan to 241, and Virat and Shubman’s performances were incredible,” said Dhumal.
Former Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also extended his congratulations to the Indian team, emphasizing the collective support of the nation. “Many congratulations to the Indian Cricket team. This is the result of the prayers of 140 crore Indians and our team’s excellent performance. The Indian team was in command from the first ball, and moreover, we also got to see Virat Kohli’s century. India is performing well, may we win the Champions Trophy,” he said.
With this resounding win, India remains unbeaten in the tournament and looks poised for a strong run to the final. If the team maintains its current form, Indian fans may witness their first Champions Trophy triumph since 2013.
