MACKAY, August 24: Public tickets for the final match of the BKT Tyres Men’s ODI series between Australia and South Africa at Great Barrier Reef Arena have officially sold out, marking the fourth sell-out across the six-match white-ball tour.
Sunday’s sold-out game follows Friday’s packed crowd, the first time Australia’s Men’s team played in Mackay, and confirms the region’s strong appetite for international cricket. With 5,000 fans expected at the ground on Sunday, total series attendance is projected to exceed 40,000, underscoring massive local support across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Strong crowd numbers reinforce cricket’s reach in regional Australia
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg praised fans for their enthusiastic response to the series:
“We would like to thank the fans for their overwhelming support throughout the BKT Tyres Men’s white-ball series. The fact that four out of six matches have sold out is evidence that Australia’s national sport holds a significant place in the hearts of these communities,” said Greenberg.
“We’re proud to bring world-class cricket to these venues and extend our gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the series.”
