HBL PSL marks 300th match as decade of record-breaking cricket hits new milestone

Lahore, 30 April 2025: The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially reached a major milestone — completing 300 matches since its inception in 2016. The landmark match featured Quetta Gladiators taking on Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the same team (Quetta) that played and won the first-ever PSL match.

The inaugural HBL PSL fixture took place on 4 February 2016 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, launching what would become Pakistan’s premier T20 franchise league.

A decade of records and rising stars

Over 10 action-packed seasons and 300 matches, the HBL PSL has thrilled fans globally with high-quality cricket and star-studded performances:

  • Babar Azam – Most runs: 3,621 in 96 matches (also the most appearances), 34 half-centuries, and 401 fours
  • Hasan Ali – Most wickets: 121 in 88 matches
  • Jason Roy – Highest individual score: 145 vs Peshawar Zalmi (2023)
  • Fakhar Zaman – Most sixes: 117 in 90 matches
  • Ravi Bopara – Best bowling figures: 6-16 (Season 1)
  • Mohammad Rizwan – Most wicketkeeper dismissals: 84; 2,749 runs
  • Sarfaraz Ahmed – Most matches as captain: 80; most wins: 38
  • Aleem Dar – Most matches umpired: 81; set to retire this season

Franchise participation and match count

The number of matches played by each franchise in the league so far:

  • Peshawar Zalmi: 110
  • Islamabad United: 105
  • Karachi Kings: 101
  • Lahore Qalandars: 100
  • Quetta Gladiators: 98
  • Multan Sultans: 86
