Mumbai, India – May 20: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced player replacements for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season due to unavailability of key overseas players.
KKR bring in Shivam Shukla to replace Rovman Powell
KKR have signed Shivam Shukla as a replacement for Rovman Powell, who is ruled out due to a required surgical intervention for his tonsils. Shukla, a leg-spinner from Madhya Pradesh, joins the squad at a base price of INR 30 Lakh.
Powell’s absence creates an opportunity for Shukla to make his IPL debut, bolstering KKR’s spin department as they continue their playoff push.
RCB add Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani for departing Ngidi
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have signed Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi, who will depart on May 26 to join the South Africa national team for international commitments.
Muzarabani, a tall right-arm fast bowler from Zimbabwe, has picked 78 wickets in 70 T20Is, alongside appearances in 12 Tests and 55 ODIs. He joins RCB for INR 75 Lakh, adding valuable pace experience to their bowling unit.
The additions of Shukla and Muzarabani aim to maintain squad depth and competitiveness for both franchises as IPL 2025 enters its critical final stages.
