On Saturday, the city district administration issued a city-wide alert to relevant departments, assigning specific tasks to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming tri-nation matches in Lahore.
During a meeting with the district administration, representatives from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provided a detailed briefing on the preparations and arrangements for the series.
The tri-nation cricket series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, will be hosted in Pakistan, with the teams stationed in Lahore from February 5 to 10. Practice sessions are scheduled for February 6 and 7, while the matches will take place in Lahore on February 8 and 10.
The Pakistani team will depart for Karachi on February 9, following a match between New Zealand and South Africa on February 10. The New Zealand and South African teams will leave Lahore for Karachi on February 11.
The MCL has been tasked with ensuring proper lighting on routes and green belts. The Lahore district administration, in collaboration with all stakeholders, will facilitate clear routes for both teams and spectators. CCTV cameras will be installed for comprehensive monitoring. The health department will be on standby, with medical arrangements and emergency services prioritized, including a temporary 10-bed hospital.
The Lahore Waste Management Company will handle sanitation, while the Water and Sanitation Agency will manage the sewerage system and ensure regular watering of routes. The Lahore Electric Supply Company will ensure an uninterrupted power supply. Civil Defence, working alongside the police, will manage security, and a bomb disposal squad will be deployed in the field.
The city district government and the Lahore Parking Company will coordinate parking arrangements.
Key officials present at the meeting included MCL CEO Shahid Abbas Kathia, the additional deputy commissioner of headquarters, the assistant commissioner of finance and planning, the City assistant commissioner, the deputy CEO of MCL, PCB representatives, and the deputy commissioner.
