A heartfelt gesture from India’s rising star
Jaiswal met Ravi on the sidelines of the Edgbaston Test and greeted him warmly. “I was really excited to meet you. I don’t know why I’m nervous,” the 23-year-old said. He then handed Ravi a signed bat, saying, “I think I have a gift for you – my bat. I would like you to keep it as my memory.”
A delighted Ravi responded, “Thanks so much! I can’t wait to have your bat because you’re a brilliant cricketer… I think you’re the future of Indian cricket.”
Fan connection beyond the boundary
The two continued chatting, with Ravi impressing Jaiswal with his knowledge of Indian cricket, including insights on spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. “You have so much information! You’re really into cricket,” Jaiswal noted.
The gesture was especially meaningful to Ravi, who had previously said that meeting Jaiswal, his favorite cricketer and Rajasthan Royals star, was one of his biggest dreams.
