In a moment of cross-sport camaraderie, Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh and German football star Thomas Müller exchanged jerseys at BC Place Stadium, marking a symbolic welcome to the inaugural Canada Super 60 cricket league by Vancouver’s Whitecaps FC.
The gesture took place during Whitecaps FC’s home game against St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, drawing cheers from a packed stadium and shining a spotlight on the city’s growing role as a global sporting hub.
Cricket and football icons unite in Vancouver
Yuvraj Singh, two-time World Cup winner and cancer survivor, praised the Whitecaps for their strong MLS season and expressed his excitement at the warm welcome from Vancouver’s football faithful.
“It was truly special to meet Thomas Müller and share our mutual passion for sport,” Yuvraj said after the event.
Thomas Müller, a FIFA World Cup winner and marquee signing for Whitecaps FC, in turn praised Yuvraj’s achievements on and off the field. “Wishing him and Canada Super 60 the very best for its launch,” Müller said, acknowledging the league’s global aspirations.
