Cricket Tasmania, in partnership with Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association, has opened the 2020-21 round of the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund for Tasmania.

The fund recently provided around $150,000 to nine Tasmanian projects to improve the standard of training and playing facilities right around the state.

The fund remains open until 4 April 2021.

Cricket Tasmania CEO, Dominic Baker, highlighted the importance of providing funding at a grassroots level.

“Every sport in Tasmania can mount a decent argument that there is a need for more facilities for playing and training – cricket included.

“Cricket clubs all around our state are run by volunteers who provide hours of their time to ensure their venues are as good as they can be. The ACIF provides the funding needed for the clubs to make significant upgrades that would have otherwise been out of reach.

“In the vast majority of cases the facilities are owned by local governments, and I encourage them all to engage with their local clubs and get behind the cricket projects in their communities with additional help and support.”

Clubs, schools and councils are encouraged to apply. Fund guidelines and application forms are available at crickettas.com.au.
