Our team of highly skilled developers, engineers, data scientists and editorial analysts work with and create products used by international boards, global broadcasters, media groups and some of the most recognisable sporting teams in the world.

With ambitious plans for growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to play a pivotal leadership role in the next stage of our growth journey.

Role Scope & Purpose

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will lead the commercial and strategic development of the Ellipse business and its subsidiaries with overall responsibility for generating revenues from our expanding data capabilities and portfolio of products.

With a track record in developing and implementing go to market strategies, the CCO will be expected to proactively expand the company’s business activities through hands-on lead generation and sales, as well as initiating key partnerships and senior relationships across relevant industry sectors.

Working collaboratively with our product and leadership team, the CCO will ensure that product development priorities are consistent with market requirements and financial targets. They will be responsible for executing on a deliverable strategy for our subsidiary businesses which aligns and complements the broader Ellipse company goals and objectives.

Demonstrable commercial acumen and successes will inspire confidence at all levels both within and outside the organisation, as will an entrepreneurial mindset and proven leadership skills.

Ambitious and with a drive to succeed, this role requires an excellent communicator with a sense of strategic purpose.

Senior management experience within a related industry, sports data or analytics field is advantageous, a passion for sport a must.

Key Accountabilities


  • Develop and implement commercial strategies and pricing policies with the aim of accelerating revenues and delivering sustainable business growth
  • Oversee all commercial agreements and negotiations with clients and partners, taking direct responsibility where necessary
  • Deliver engaging and informative presentations to clients, demonstrating best practice key account management skills on both a professional and personal level
  • Competitor awareness and market analysis across the sports data landscape, including relevant industry sectors
  • Identification of business possibilities and barriers, to include a necessary course of action or response
  • Managing personal relationships with our commercial partners to ensure lasting engagement and loyalty to Ellipse


  • Regular pipeline and sales reporting/monitoring against plans and budgets
  • Communicate sales performance and present to all senior internal stakeholders at executive and board levels
  • Accurate revenue forecasting of existing and new products
  • Assist with setting, managing, and monitoring financial targets and budget development.
  • Product & Technical Understanding
  • Develop an intimate understanding of Ellipse’s products and operations as it relates to the technical delivery of client services
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback to support business case planning and formulation of the product roadmap
  • Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies and their potential application on client engagements

People Management & Leadership

  • Lead the sales team to maximise performance
  • Manage staff KPIs and development
  • Bring positive, energised, and professional leadership to the organisation as a whole


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior commercial management and/or sales leadership role, preferably within a related industry
  • Commercially focused high achiever, with an ability to influence and negotiate at an advanced level
  • Confident, particularly when presenting to senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience articulating complex business and product solutions
  • Working knowledge and interest in the application of sports data in the context of media, sports betting and performance analysis
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • A passion for sport – cricket and tennis in particular
