Bio

Nazmul Hassan is a Bangladeshi cricket administrator, government official and business executive, most recently serving Bangladesh Cricket Board as President. He was first appointed to this role by the Bangladeshi government in October 2012. However in October 2013, he was elected BCB’s President unanimously, making him the first elected president of the board. He was subsequently elected in 2017 and 2021 for his second and third term.

Hassan is also a member of Bangladesh Parliament after having won his seat from Kishoreganj in the 2009 elections from Awami League.

Hassan is an Executive Board Member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and served the ACC as President from November 2018 to January 2021, succeeded by Jay Shah.

Hassan is an experienced professional in the pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh. He serves as the President of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (BAPI) and Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceutical Ltd., a leading Bangladeshi pharmaceutical manufacturer and exporter. He is also Managing Director of Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd., a ceramic manufacturing company based in Dhaka, incorporated in 1997 and in 2005 becoming a subsidiary of Beximco group, of which Hassan is also a director.

Hassan also sits on the ICC Board of Directors as a Bangladesh representative and is a member of ICC’s Nomination Committee and ICC’s HR and Remuneration Committee.

Previously, Hassan served as Chairman of the Cricket Committee of Abahani Limited, a Dhaka Sports Club from 2008 until he became the 14th President of BCB. 

Hassan completed his MBA degree with a major in Marketing in 1985 from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.

Hassan supports various social welfare organizations including the Trust of Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital & Nursing College in Savar.
