Titans Cricket, a dominant force in South African cricket, and Evexia, a leading mental health care and wellness service provider, are excited to announce an innovative partnership centered on enhancing performance and wellness within the world of cricket. This collaboration signifies a commitment to creating an optimal environment for mental and physical health, ultimately fostering a culture that prioritizes peak performance.

As part of the partnership, Evexia will provide a comprehensive Workplace Health and Wellness Service to Titans Cricket. This service will encompass psychometric screening assessments for both staff and the women’s team, fostering a deep understanding of individual mental health needs. Based on the outcomes of these assessments, Evexia will create tailored developmental plans, aimed at promoting both personal and professional growth. Regular on-site group sessions will encourage a supportive community and an open dialogue around mental health. In addition, individual sessions with Evexia professionals will be available for those who need more personalised care and support. The partnership will also offer week-long admissions to Evexia’s innovative psychiatric programme, to staff and players, providing intensive mental health support when necessary. Tailored seminars during retreats will also illuminate specific aspects of wellness and team dynamics.

For the Titans Ladies’ Cricket Team, Evexia has crafted a Performance Mindset Programme. This programme is designed to establish a healthy corporate culture prioritising both physical and mental health. Trust-building initiatives will be launched with Evexia professionals, and the focus will be shifted towards improved performance. In the long-term, the programme also includes a bespoke high-performance mindset development plan. This plan will place a strong focus on mental preparation techniques, management of performance anxiety, and performance mindset conditioning, all of which are critical to thrive in high-pressure situations and deliver consistent, top-notch performances.

Winston Schoeman, Managing Director of Evexia, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We’re delighted to join forces with Titans Cricket. Our mission is to empower the staff and players with the necessary tools to achieve their best, both personally and professionally. The integration of our wellness services and performance mindset programme is a game-changer, and we look forward to seeing the positive effects.”

Both Titans Cricket and Evexia are eager to witness the benefits and value this partnership will bring. By placing wellness at the heart of their operation, they’re setting a new standard for holistic health in sports.

Indeed, the rise in popularity of women’s cricket has been tremendous in recent years, with a significant surge in interest and investment in the sport. This was evident earlier in the year when SA’s very own Momentum Proteas took on Australia in the final of the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup in front of a sold-out crowd at Newlands in Cape Town, led by Titans player, Suné Luus – and a few weeks prior, South Africa hosted the inaugural Women’s Under 19-Cricket World Cup.

Alongside this growth, there is a mounting recognition of the importance of mental health in the world of sports. In fact, a majority of respondents in a recent survey agreed that professional athletes should prioritize their mental health over competing, highlighting the emerging awareness and importance of mental health in sports. Further, sports and physical activities are increasingly being seen as valuable tools for supporting mental health, with evidence suggesting that regular physical activity can reduce stress, improve mood, and increase self-esteem.

This underscores the crucial need for comprehensive mental health and wellness programs for professional athletes, including women cricketers. With the growing popularity of women’s cricket and the increasing recognition of the importance of mental health in sports, the partnership between Evexia and Titans Cricket serves as a pioneering move to ensure the holistic wellbeing of the athletes, fostering not only their physical fitness but also their mental and emotional health.
