ACB name Afghanistan Abdalyan squad for the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s National Selection Committee today finalized Afghan Abdalyan’s Squad for the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023, which is scheduled to be held from 14 to 23 July in Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan Abdalyan are pooled with Bangladesh A, Oman, and United Arab Emirates in Group B, whereas Group A features India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, and Nepal. The top-two sides from each group will progress to the semifinals, followed by the final.

Afghanistan Abdalyan will begin their tournament campaign against Oman on July 14, followed by matches against Sri Lanka A on July 16 and Bangladesh A on July 18. Afghanistan will also play three warmup games against Bangladesh A from July 7th to July 11th in order to be fully prepared for the main draw of the event.

The 24-year-old left-handed batter Shahidullah Kamal, who has represented Afghanistan in one Test and a solitary ODI, will lead Abdalyan in the event. Other capped players in the squad are Riaz Hassan (3 ODIs), Ihsanullah Janat (3 Tests, 16 ODIs & 1 T20I), Noor Ali Zadran (51 ODIs & 20 T20Is), Ikram Alikhil (1 Test, 12 ODIs), Baheer Shah (1 Test), Sharafuddin Ashraf (19 ODIs & 13 T20Is) and Wafadar Momand (2 Tests).
