Victorian wicket-keeper batter, Nicole Faltum, has signed with the Melbourne Stars for the next two seasons.

Still just 23 years of age, Faltum is already a veteran of 67 games for the Stars and captained the club in Meg Lanning’s absence last season. She has also captained Victoria at WNCL level.

Faltum recently spent time with Australia A in England and spent the Australian winter in the UK gaining valuable experience in their domestic season.

“Nicole proved herself as a tremendous young leader last season, stepping up in Meg’s absence and her enthusiasm and energy around the group is second to none,” said Melbourne Stars General Manager Blair Crouch.

“She has continued to work incredibly hard on her batting and was duly awarded the Sharon Tredrea award for her WNCL season.”

Faltum said she was excited to see what the young Stars group could achieve over the next few years.

“Having played together for a number of seasons now, our squad has grown and learnt some tough lessons, but we feel like we’re ready to play finals.

“We’ve got some of the most exciting youngsters in Australian cricket and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year and beyond.”
