There will be no shortage of action at the WACA Ground for WA’s passionate Members and fans, as revealed in the 2023-24 domestic fixture released by Cricket Australia this morning.
WA Cricket’s Men’s team will, on Sunday 24 September, begin a campaign that could see it climb to heights never previously reached in the history of Australian cricket.
Meantime, the WA Women’s team has the chance to build from the promising foundations laid in 2022-23 when its WNCL season commences two days later.

Fresh from back-to-back Marsh One-Day Cup and Marsh Sheffield Shield titles, WA has its sights set on becoming the first side to win both competitions three years in succession.
They’ll begin the season with two 50-over games at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field, playing Queensland (24 September) before taking on South Australia (26 September) in a rematch of the 2022-23 Marsh Cup Final.
Their Sheffield Shield campaign commences in similarly testing fashion, hosting Victoria at the WACA Ground from 4 October. The contest carries weight for both outfits, who will resume hostilities after battling for the last two Shield titles in Perth.
WA’s Women gained significant ground in 2022-23, registering four wins and competing with every side despite their relative youth and inexperience.
The next chapter in their journey begins at home with back-to-back matches against Victoria on 26 and 28 September.
A further four home games – versus ACT (5 and 7 January) and New South Wales (19 and 21 January) – will take place the following month, as part of a fixture that features just two stints on the road for the 2019-20 WNCL champions.
Across competitions, and without factoring finals, there could be as many as 29 days of WNCL, Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup cricket played at the WACA Ground in 2023-24.
The iconic venue is also poised to host at least seven Weber Women’s Big Bash League games (starting 25 October) and the one-off Woman’s CommBank Test between Australia and South Africa (starting 15 February).
All KFC Big Bash League home games (starting 20 December), the Men’s NRMA Insurance Test between Pakistan and Australia (starting 14 December) and the Dettol T20I match against West Indies (13 February) will be played at Optus Stadium.
Reflecting on the fixture, WA Men’s Head Coach Adam Voges said:
“Sustained success is what we’re chasing with this group, and in keeping the majority of the group together we’ve given ourselves a great opportunity to continue that. Everybody has worked really hard to achieve that, and it’s very much about going again now.
“One big message to the players has been to keep making the WACA Ground a fortress for us and make it really tough for opposition teams to come over and play against us.
“We’re excited to kick-start our Marsh Cup campaign over in Brisbane – Queensland and South Australia are going to be really tough matches to begin with. We’ve then got the Sheffield Shield Final rematch against Victoria at the WACA Ground in October, so we’re looking forward to getting started.”
WA Women’s Head Coach Becky Grundy said:
“We are excited to play our first two games at home and it offers the girls a wonderful opportunity to start the season off on a positive note.
“We love playing at the WACA Ground, a ground with so much history. For the girls to play in front of family and friends is really beneficial and we are keen to make it a fortress this season.
“We are definitely looking to build on the progress we made last season. We know that our best cricket was able to challenge every team in the competition and we can’t wait to produce that level of performance on a more consistent basis this summer.”
