Cricket Namibia: Playtime Festival – A Celebration of Youth Cricket in Namibia

Walvis Bay, along with Swakopmund and Windhoek, recently had the honor of hosting the Playtime Festival, one of the most prestigious youth tournaments on Cricket Namibia’s calendar. The event was hosted from the 21st September through to the 1st October 202. The event has grown in prominence over the years, saw a convergence of young cricket enthusiasts, reflecting the sport’s deep roots and burgeoning future in the country.

This year, the youth tournament under a new partner, Playtime Festival facilitated five youth tournaments that saw a staggering 45 teams over 139 fiercely contested matches. Such participation levels are a testament to the sport’s popularity among the youth and the continued efforts of Cricket Namibia to foster and develop young talent.

One cannot mention the success of the Playtime Festival without acknowledging the significant role played by Playtime Namibia. The sponsorship from Playtime Namibia, an organization known for its dedication to broadening and promoting sports in the country, provided a significant boost to the event. Their commitment and considerable investment ensured the festival’s smooth running, making it a memorable experience for the young cricketers.

The festival was not about competition; it was a celebration of the spirit of the game amongs our young cricketers. Beyond the boundaries and wickets, it was an opportunity for young cricketers to learn, interact, and grow. It was a platform where they could showcase their skills, understand teamwork and sportsmanship, and most importantly, foster friendships that transcend the cricket field.

As the curtains came down on the Playtime Festival, it left behind memories, moments of glory, lessons learned, and a promise of a brighter cricketing future for Namibia. With partners like Playtime Namibia, the sky’s the limit for these young cricketers and the sport in the country.
