Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to review allegations linking an unnamed franchise player to the sharing of confidential team information, with the matter expected to come before the franchise’s board ahead of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 25.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, CSK has maintained a zero-tolerance position on corruption and intends to consider the information currently available before determining what action, if any, should follow. The allegations remain unverified.
CSK board set to discuss allegations
A CSK Official, who spoke to Cricbuzz on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, said: “We have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming up. Our board will meet ahead of the AGM. We will discuss the matter.”
The board meeting comes after an undercover investigation by Tehelka alleged that a CSK player supplied confidential information to a Delhi-based former first-class cricketer. The player allegedly involved was not identified in the investigation.
Investigation alleges IPL information was sold
As previously reported by cricexec, former Nagaland cricketer Rachit Bhatia made a series of claims during the undercover operation involving access to inside information and alleged fixing activity.
Among those claims, Bhatia alleged that he had passed information concerning CSK to bookmakers in London during the 2025 IPL season and received INR 60 lakh (approx. US$62.5K) per match, claiming earnings of INR 3 crore (approx. US$312.5K) across five matches. Those statements remain allegations and have not been independently established.
The investigation also included claims concerning possible arrangements for IPL 2026. Bhatia allegedly discussed obtaining information if his player contact was selected at the auction, but the source he referred to was not picked.
Allegations also reached the Delhi Premier League
The undercover investigation extended beyond the IPL to the Delhi Premier League (DPL), where Bhatia allegedly offered advance playing-XI information.
As previously reported by cricexec, the operation culminated on August 3, 2026, when Bhatia allegedly provided two possible Central Delhi Kings combinations before their match against North Delhi Strikers. After Central Delhi won the toss and elected to field, the relevant lineup supplied in advance matched the officially announced XI.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) subsequently described the allegations as unverified and unsubstantiated and sought guidance from the relevant cricket authorities.
CSK’s board will now consider the matter ahead of the September 25 AGM, with any further course of action dependent on its review of the information surrounding the allegations.
