The Sydney Sixers have today completed their KFC BBL|12 roster, retaining the services of pace bowler Mickey Edwards for the summer ahead.

One of the great stories of resilience and perseverance, Edwards has fought his way back from a string of injuries, re-signing with the Sixers for a sixth season.

Making his debut in BBL|07, the right-arm quick rapidly established a cult following within the league, well-recognised by his towering stature and striking blonde hair.

Edwards was joined by younger brother Jack the following summer, making history as the first pair of siblings to line-up together in Sixers colours.

Speaking about his anticipation for the summer ahead, Edwards couldn’t contain his enthusiasm.

“I’m incredibly excited for the season ahead.” Edwards said.

“The SCG is one of the best venues in the world and I can’t wait to be back playing in front of full stadiums this summer.

“We have some of the best, and most passionate, supporters in the league and I’m so excited to see them turn out for us again this year.”

Edwards made a triumphant return to red ball cricket last month, playing his first Sheffield Shield match since 2018.

The 27-year-old collected three wickets in his second match back against Victoria, including the vital wickets of big-hitters Travis Dean and Peter Handscomb.

Sixers Head Coach, Greg Shipperd acknowledged Edward’s hard work to return to the top level.

“Mickey has been a part of our journey the past five seasons and we are delighted to have him continue with the Sixers family.” Shipperd said.

“He has come off of an English season that has assisted his recent domestic selection and good form.

“Both Mickey, and his brother Jack, are popular with our members and supporters, and we’re really looking forward to their careers continuing to flourish.”

The Sixers will kick off their hunt for the KFC BBL|12 trophy next Wednesday, taking on the Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval.
